When we bring mindfulness to our yoga practice, we experience a deeper connection to ourselves and our surroundings. But what does that mean, and how does this translate to life outside the studio?
Mindfulness refers to the practice of bringing one’s attention to the present moment without judgment. In yoga, this can involve focusing on your breath, tuning into the sensations in your body, and observing your thoughts and emotions as they arise without getting lost in them. When we practice yoga mindfully, we move beyond the physicality of the poses. Each asana (pose) becomes an opportunity to be fully present, to listen to the body, and to engage the mind with purpose and intention. This focus on the present moment is what separates yoga from a regular workout. It’s not just about physical exercise; it’s about creating a mental space for stillness, awareness, and growth.

With over a decade of dedicated practice, Dom Phongsavath has honed her skills as a certified 500-hour Yoga Teacher, 85-hour Prenatal Yoga Teacher, and Yoga in Nature Specialist. Her journey began with Bikram Yoga and Power flows, but during the pandemic, she felt a deep calling to deepen her understanding of yoga through teacher training.
Inspired by online lectures and 90-minute Sadhanas with SoulWork, Dom discovered the profound power of yoga to transform both body and mind. She embodies the essence of yoga, recognizing the potential of our shadows to ignite our passions and fuel our purpose.
Dom's passion for sharing her knowledge extends beyond the studio. She currently teaches Yoga Classes at YogaSix Waterside in Fort Worth. You can find her on the schedule leading Sculpt and Flow - a fitness-focused class designed to strengthen and invigorate. Additionally, she offers a variety of community yoga events, including Puppy Yoga, Paddle Board Yoga, and Fort Worth Community Yoga.
